Mist was a founding member and eventual namesake of the Mistborn. He served with the Crimson Company alongside Cap Tan Ro’geers, Gobbles, and Whittaker Morganna during the company’s early adventures in 8722 SE.
Mist possessed a strong affinity for the natural world and repeatedly served the group through magic associated with animals, plants, and transformation. He participated in the investigation of the attacks near Fellstrond, the early encounters with the Sahuagin, the search for Nozur’s missing constructs and apprentice, and the campaign against the black dragon whose presence had poisoned the countryside around Bregentved. He also helped investigate the conspiracy surrounding Johan Seyler in Lidviken.
Mist’s wife, Flow, had been abducted by subterranean giants before the final stage of the campaign. Her disappearance remained unresolved during Mist’s lifetime and later became part of the Mistborn’s search for Zurath’ek, whose operations were connected to the same underground networks.
Death at the Pool of Eternal Spring
In 8723 SE, the company crossed the interior of Inis Faerna and reached Dewlight on the Polverth Plateau. The inhabitants reported unnatural red lightning, dead animals, and violent shapeshifters moving through the forest, and directed the company toward the Pool of Eternal Spring to the north. The sanctuary was associated with Lurae, a powerful unicorn servant of Amundala, whom followers of Malvar were attempting to corrupt through violent transformation.
The Mistborn defeated the attackers and prevented Lurae’s corruption from becoming permanent, but Mist was killed in the battle. His companions carried his body back through Dewlight and then to Cain Tiarnach, where an attempt to return him to life failed. He was buried beneath the trees there.
The surviving members subsequently adopted the name Mistborn in his memory. Months later they rescued Flow from captivity connected to Zurath’ek’s operations and brought her to Mist’s burial place before she settled in Bregentved.
