Gobbles was a founding member of the Mistborn and one of the group’s principal scouts, infiltrators, and problem-solvers. He was a member of the Crimson Company before the group adopted the Mistborn name and remained with the company through the Asnor Succession War of 8723 SE and the later struggle against Zurath’ek.
Gobbles played a central role in the investigation that cleared Whittaker Morganna. While secretly observing Johan Seyler in Lidviken, he entered the abandoned house once owned by Bodvar Egilsson and discovered a concealed shaft descending into caverns beneath the city. The subsequent expedition found evidence of an aberrant cerebral parasite linked to Seyler and to a wider Nharvek presence. During the final attempt to rescue Whittaker’s family, Gobbles killed a guard and a tutor while escaping the castle; both victims were later restored to life after the group was brought before Ornolf Varsson.
During the succession crisis, Gobbles helped infiltrate occupied Vrungend with Sazed and Cap Tan Ro’geers while Whittaker stirred a public uprising outside the palace. He participated in freeing imprisoned members of the Crimson Company, recovering the Mantle of Rektesh, and exposing Séamus Lorcáin as an ally of Ulrik Lindvig. Gobbles later stood beside Cap during the Installation of the Stadtholder, where surviving accounts describe him as representing children, orphans, and the poor.
Gobbles was also deeply involved in the conflict over the Teeth of Sekorath. He helped defend the relics at Bregentved against a major Sahuagin assault and was carrying the extradimensional container in which they were stored when the Nharvek-altered dragon known as the Black Echo attacked the town and stole them. At Cinderfold, Gobbles sabotaged part of the structure supporting Zurath’ek’s apotheosis ritual, weakening the protections around the Nharvek arcanist. Gobbles was killed during the battle but successfully restored to life after Zurath’ek escaped with the Mantle of Rektesh. In later years, Gobbles mentored Finnrik, providing him with armor and an enchanted bow.
