The Cinderfold is a volcanic region of Inis Tierneg inland from Fellstrond. Its surface is marked by broken dark rock, vents, and evidence of intermittent geothermal activity, while an extensive network of lava tubes and older worked chambers lies beneath it.
In 8723 SE, the College Arcanum detected unusual magical and seismic activity in the region while searching for the Nharvek arcanist Zurath’ek. The Mistborn entered the lava tubes and encountered widespread psychic disturbances, including substances and effects that induced intense fear and visions.
Deeper within the Cinderfold, natural passages gave way to carved architecture built around a large ritual chamber. Celestial carvings, crystals, elevated basalt platforms, and a direct view of the moons formed part of a complex designed for an attempt at apotheosis. All forty Teeth of Sekorath had been incorporated into the working.
The resulting confrontation is described in Apotheosis Attempt at Cinderfold. The Mistborn prevented Zurath’ek from completing the ritual but failed to capture him. He escaped with the Mantle of Rektesh to the Realm of Winds.
