Johan Seyler was the Skald who replaced Whittaker Morganna at the court of Ornolf Varsson after Whittaker was framed and sentenced to the Crimson Company. His activities became central to the investigation that eventually cleared Whittaker.
Seyler was believed to have come from Inis Markul and had previously appeared in Lidviken in connection with trade arrangements. As Skald, he exercised influence well beyond the cultural and advisory role ordinarily expected of the office, including unusual access to military discussions. His origins and rapid rise attracted the attention of Whittaker’s companions when they returned secretly to Lidviken in late 8722 SE.
Gobbles followed Seyler to an abandoned house associated with Bodvar Egilsson, the same man whose disputed claim had been used in the forged evidence against Whittaker. Beneath the house, the Mistborn discovered a hidden shaft leading toward the Underdark. Exploration of the tunnels revealed a small cerebral parasite capable of controlling a host. Its physical traces matched marks found beneath the house.
The company later pursued Seyler while attempting to free Whittaker’s wife Aisling and daughter Saoise. Seyler was killed during the escape, and the aberrant parasite within or controlling him was exposed before witnesses. The discovery did not establish every step by which Whittaker had been framed, but it demonstrated that Seyler’s position was connected to a broader aberrant conspiracy and gave Ornolf Varsson sufficient reason to reconsider the earlier evidence.
The deeper network was eventually associated with surviving Nharvek activity beneath the Skyre Islands and with the later investigations surrounding Zurath’ek.
