The Pool of Eternal Spring is a secluded sanctuary in the interior of Inis Faerna, north of the Polverth Plateau. It is associated with Lurae, a powerful unicorn servant of Amundala, and with the unusually strong influence of living, reflective magic found in that part of the island.
The Pool is surrounded by dense forest and is difficult to reach from the coastal settlements of Asnorland. Local beings associated with the plateau traditionally treated it as a protected place rather than an ordinary source of water or a destination for settlement.
Attack of 8723 SE
In 8723 SE, followers of Malvar spread through the surrounding forest. Their presence was accompanied by unnatural red lightning, dead wildlife, violent shapeshifters, and the corruption of several local creatures. The adventurers who would become known as the Mistborn first learned the extent of the threat after reaching Dewlight on the Polverth Plateau, whose inhabitants directed them north toward the Pool. When the company reached the sanctuary, lycanthropes surrounded it while red lightning struck Lurae and forced a predatory transformation upon her.
The company defeated the attackers and prevented Lurae’s corruption from becoming permanent. Mist was killed during the battle. His companions carried his body back to Dewlight and then continued to Cain Tiarnach, where he was buried after an attempt to restore him to life failed. The immediate attack was stopped, but the Pool’s long-term condition remains poorly documented.
