Sekorath was an ancient predatory power associated with the seas surrounding the Skyre Islands. Later cults sometimes worshiped him as a god, but Sashara, a servant of Maritana, explicitly described him as something less or other than a true deity.
Accounts preserved from the period of the Mistborn portray Sekorath as an immense marine predator whose influence was expressed through hunger, pursuit, territorial dominance, and the terror of being hunted in open water. Descriptions often give him sharklike qualities, but no single fixed body is consistently attested and the forms attributed to him may not have been literal. He may have been an ancient leviathan elevated by worship, an unusually powerful supernatural creature, or a being whose nature crossed the ordinary boundary between monster and lesser divine power.
Sekorath once claimed substantial waters around the islands as his domain. At some point he was banished, imprisoned, or otherwise removed from direct presence in the region. The circumstances are poorly preserved, but the event left behind forty relics known as the Teeth of Sekorath. Skyre Folk custodians later watched over those objects to prevent their reunion.
War and political upheaval eventually scattered the Teeth. By 8722 SE, militant Sahuagin cults were recovering them and attempting to create the conditions for Sekorath’s return. The Mistborn intervened and eventually reunited the relics themselves in order to keep them from the cult. That success created a different danger when the Nharvek arcanist Zurath’ek stole the collection and used it as part of the Apotheosis Attempt at Cinderfold. Whether Sekorath remained capable of returning after the failure at Cinderfold is unknown.
