Razekah, commonly called the Name-Eating Blade, is an ancient weapon associated with the Liyonir warrior Azukhan and traditions preserved by the family of Assad of the Ironmane. The surviving stories treat the blade as more than a symbol of office. Razekah judges its bearer, and merely possessing it does not establish that the wielder is worthy of the legacy attached to it.
Assad’s mother, Saza, preserved a tradition in which Azukhan used Razekah during a struggle against an enemy capable of attacking identity and reason. The account says that Azukhan eventually sacrificed himself through the blade to defeat that darkness. The historical details were fragmentary enough that Assad initially understood Razekah primarily as a source of legitimacy for confronting his uncle Azure and reclaiming his family’s place.
Research eventually pointed toward Thunderwake, an ancient sky-pyramid hidden in the Swamps of Thunder. There Razekah was preserved within a concealed sanctuary protected by Muqaddasat al-Qurbān. Muqaddasat recognized the Eye of Visthuun carried by Dizra and claimed that Visthuun had once been an enemy of Azukhan. Believing that the Eye had exposed Razekah to that enemy, she attempted to destroy the Phalanx rather than allow the weapon to be found.
After Muqaddasat was defeated, Assad took Razekah from its pedestal. The blade accepted him sufficiently to be carried, but a later encounter with Azukhan made clear that this was not the same as complete approval. Azukhan warned Assad that the weapon would test and eventually prove or disprove him, and that a blade could inspire fear without creating legitimate loyalty.
Razekah is currently carried by Assad.
