The Cinderclaw Cindercate was a clandestine kobold resistance movement within Khaz’Vel’Tor during the period when the fortress was ruled by Scalespeaker Vael Skarrix. Its members believed Skarrix maintained authority by manipulating religious devotion to Zar’Malek and deliberately preventing the dragon from fully awakening.

The metalworker Rickit was one of the faction’s principal contacts with the Drakefire Phalanx. Through him, the Phalanx learned the fortress’s command structure, ventilation network, food stores, defensive mechanisms, and routes into the Inner Ring.

The Cinderclaws cooperated with the Phalanx in a campaign to destabilize the regime. Captains Issk and Gravak were killed, the fortress food stores were poisoned, and uncertainty spread among the kobold population. When open rebellion finally began, Cinderclaw forces drew defenders away from the Inner Ring and gave the Phalanx the opportunity to reach Zar’Malek’s hoard.

During the Phalanx’s escape with the Eye of Visthuun, the Cinderclaws also triggered explosions and collapses that temporarily buried Zar’Malek. The party departed while the uprising was still active, leaving the faction’s ultimate success or survival unresolved.
