Game Rules: Use standard Dragonborn ancestry rules
Dragonborn have a long history on Kor Sirok, with some of their oldest surviving cultural associations centered on Auslura. Dragonborn communities are not confined to that continent, however, and migrations over thousands of years have established populations elsewhere. One of the most important examples is Arkrist, founded in ancient times by Dragonborn settlers from Auslura and now one of the largest cities in Aesala.
Two of the best-known Dragonborn communities illustrate very different historical paths. Phalygos is a small mountain clan village in Auslura, while Arkrist grew from a Dragonborn settlement into a major maritime metropolis. Other populations developed within their own local nations, clans, and religious traditions.
Draconic Heritage
Dragonborn traditions commonly understand their ancestry as carrying a real relationship with dragonkind. Many communities preserve beliefs connecting scale coloration to the ancient distinction between metallic and chromatic dragons and to the influence of Scalefather and Wyrmmother. The exact explanation varies: some traditions describe competing divine or draconic influences before birth, while others understand coloration as an inherited sign of a deeper metaphysical affinity.
The metallic-chromatic distinction is meaningful in Kor Sirok’s dragon lore and has produced substantial religious discussion in communities where draconic identity is especially important. Some traditions interpret scale coloration as a spiritual inheritance carrying particular expectations, temptations, or obligations, while others treat it primarily as ancestry.
Religion
The Scalefather is widely worshipped among Dragonborn, especially in traditions emphasizing honorable strength, guardianship, oaths, and responsibility. The Wyrmmother is worshipped, feared, resisted, or treated with wary reverence in other communities. Worship of other gods is also common, particularly where local traditions or professions emphasize different concerns.
Arkrist preserves one prominent Dragonborn religious tradition. The Scalefather remains one of that city’s major traditional gods, and his worship is closely connected with civic ceremony and the expectations placed upon powerful families.
Communities and History
Dragonborn settlements can vary enormously in scale and organization. Phalygos is a small clan village in the mountains of Auslura whose people practice sky burial and traditionally depend heavily on hunting. During the Harrowing, those customs and subsistence practices helped spare the village some of the disaster’s worst effects, and Phalygos sent warriors to aid the nearby human settlement of Eichenburg.
Arkrist demonstrates a very different trajectory. Its Dragonborn founders established a settlement that eventually became a diverse maritime metropolis, and Dragonborn families remain prominent among its wealthy and politically active population. The city’s culture is now far broader than its ancestry of origin, but Dragonborn heritage remains visible in religion, politics, family prestige, and civic memory.
